Abstract. The article analyzes the role of mental arithmetic in developing primary
school students' cognitive abilities. Its impact on the speed of oral calculations,
attention concentration, memory, and logical thinking is examined. The importance of
mental arithmetic in forming mathematical literacy and improving student
performance is noted
